Psych Sisters: The Seven Faces of Sisterhood
Each of the Psych Sisters harbors “something I don’t want anyone to know about me.” This secret fuels their lifetimes, pretending to be people that deep-down they know they’re not. While earning a doctorate in psychology, a sisterhood developed, acting as an adopted family that understood each of their midlife crises and helped them escape from their individual self-defeating ruts. Marilyn (“I walk through the valley of the shadow of psychopathology”) is oppositional, impulsive, self-destructive, and amnesiac to her sex addiction. Eileen (“I deserve everything and I’m out to get it all”) is self-centered, in love with possessions, and steps on others to get her way. Robin (“I‘m a voyeur, an observer; distance protects me”) is passive, married to a pastor with a secret life, and is fueled by repressed revenge. Sylvia (“I hear the hollow echo of my emptiness”) hides behind a layer of fat. Eating chocolate is her tranquillizer, her only pleasure but not enough to fill her vacuum. Christine (“I’m paralyzed by wishing I was someone else”) is bored, role-playing to pretend she is important, better than herself. Lucy (“I’m lonely living above it all but it’s worth it”) is impatient with the mediocrity of those around her. She has buried guilt beneath a false sense of superiority. Olivia (“Rage collapses me to my knees”) considers life as unfair. She has always helped others but neglected herself. As an experienced psychologist, I have woven the bizarre, frightening, and dangerous aspects of clients’ stories into the fabric of the psychologists’ lives. Readers will gain insight into their own battles by following the transformative paths of the struggling psychologists. Ideal for book clubs.

Managing Migraine
Migraine is truly one of the frontiers of medicine. It is one of the few remaining diseases for which no test exists to confirm its existence. Yet it is a disease familiar to nearly everyone, whether they suffer with migraine or not. We hope the information in this book will replace many of the myths and misunderstandings that exist about migraine and remove many barriers to effective migraine care that exist today. We hope also that this book will truly be a resource used by you and your clinician to empower you as a manager of your own migraine. We provide a rich menu of resources for patients and physicians alike that we believe will make the office visit a more satisfying experience.
Managing Migraine: Providers
This book is the companion to a book that we hope you will share with your patient: Managing Migraine: A Patient’s Guide to Successful Migraine Care. The books are designed to be used in concert and provide a template from which a therapeutic partnership can be established and a base from which the patient and clinician can effectively explore migraine. The four authors approach the subject of migraine from slightly different perspectives. Two authors are neurologists, one is a family doctor, and one a psychologist; all are practicing physicians.
